Writing a persuasive essay on why women should be allow to get an abortion?

Start out by taking the argument that the fetus is not a human being until it is born. Then talk about a right to choose whether or not she wants to have a child, especially women with too many children to care of already, women who are too ill to carry a child or might pass on a medical condition in their family. Rape victims who become pregnant. Teenagers who become pregnant. Talk about what happens to women, especially teens, who hide their pregnancy and throw the baby in the dumpster. Basically focus on the fact that the fetus is not really a human yet, and all the reasons women do not want to have children, and what happens to unwanted children. I am anti too, but you asked for a pro argument.

Know that though I am pro-choice I DO NOT think that abortion should be used as a form of birth control.

Pro-Choice reason:

1. Who is anyone to say what a woman can and cannot do with her own body

2. If a woman is unable to get an abortion she may take other alternatives (dirty doctors, pills not approved by the FDA, throwing herself down the stairs, etc) Either that or her boyfriend or sometimes RELATIVE would kick the crap out of her until she miscarries and she could possibly die in the process

3. Endangerment to the mother’s health, along with rape and incest (even pro-lifers usually allow for this exception)

4. Sometimes mother’s have diseases that they don’t want to pass onto their children

5. The child will be born with terrible deformities that gives them no hope of a real life (i’m talking about real serious)

6. Children who are put up for adoption aren’t always adopted and get shuffled from abusive home to abusive home. It may sound ridiculous to some but some people don’t want their children to grow up that way.

7. The foundation for pro-life issues are fundamentally religious and since the government is supposed to have church and state seperate, saying a woman should not be allowed to have an abortion is in conflict with the constitution.

You should read the book called “Freakonomics.” It has a section about how crime went down in the 90’s even though experts had projected it to go up. The authors of that book claim that this was because women started getting abortions in the 70’s, and criminals reach their prime around 19 years of age. The book’s authors reasoned that the mothers that had abortions tended to be young women from questionable backgrounds, and if they would have kept their children, these children would have grown up under circumstances that allow crime to fester among them. It was a very interesting book, and I would totally recommend reading the whole thing–not just the abortion part.

I think a women should have the right- I mean if men got pregnant, abortion would have been legal a long time ago. But since you are on the opposition I would focus on the moral and scientific research and then counterattack what people on the other side like me would say. Morally you can say that it’s murder, it has a heart, you can say how wrong it is how they do it. A good thing to bring up would be fact that a baby was born and survived recently and it was way premature (I don’t remember the #’s)

You only need one argument (it’s her body), but here are a few more:

1. Adopted kids have more psychological/behavioral trouble

2. Women may have been using protection that failed them

3. They may have been denied Plan B by pharmacists (this is happening a lot)

The bottom line is, it’s the woman’s life and the woman’s body. We are in no place to judge her situation or force her to do anything.

they should be allowed to because:

1. The circumstances under which they may have gotten preg. eg. rape, incest, etc

2. The kind of life the child will have if it is born: the woman’s socio-economic status

3. Preventing them violates their right to chose.

for abortion: birth could kill mother/child, serves as good birth control – like you would never want to have unprotected sex again sort of way, and family/money issues

against abortion: immoral

personally i am for abortion. if you want more reasons for abortion just ask………but dont chew me out for being pro-choice
