I suppose that it is because reality is just what happens with no commentator. Once someone says something about a situation it is said from their viewpoint. Subjective, in other words. The saying that history is always written by the victors, for example, illustrates my point.

I don’t really know but i’ll take a stab at it. I think it means with words you can basically escape reality and imagine anything you want. A foe is like a enemy so with words you can fight reality and create a fantasy.
