Will employers have second thoughts about hiring a 26 year old, that just finished college.?

I’m finally going back to school at age 23. I will be attending my local community college in the fall. I plan on persuing a degree in Business Administration, with the intentions on transfering to a four-year university. First off, I have a couple gen ed classes under my belt at the school, so I should be finished in about a year depending on my course load. After I graduate I plan on transferring to a four year school. I want to persue International Business. What I am wondering is what are some of the best business schools that provide a International Business program, and in addition, when I graduate, will potential employers be concerned because I will be older, most likely around the age of 26 or 27.

I don’t see why you would.

By returning to college you are saying the following about yourself:

– That you’re persistent and determined.

– That you’re responsible.

– That you have life experience and your approached your education through the lens of that life experience.

Many people who return to school do better than they would at 18. They’re not straight out of high school without understanding self control who still go back to their parents for an allowance (to many, college = party). They also tend to understand the importance of an education more and are more likely to actually study.

Even if your employer cared – it would be in a positive light.

Good luck with school.

i dont see why not. If you have the skills and dont mind starting in entry level (lets just say you have no experience) then you should be fine. Dont be ashamed of your age. All that matters is you finished college. Be proud of yourself, your confindence and pride will speak for itself.

I have heard that St. Mary’s in Orinda, Ca has a great buisness program, but i am not sure…good luck though.

I highly doubt it, especially if you already have job experience. I have seen many college graduates denied positions because they didn’t have any job experience, but never because they were older. In fact, most college students arn’t able to graduate in four years. It usually takes them five or six years just to get their bachelors. By the time I graduate college (with my masters) I will be twenty five.

you sound like someone they would higher without having to think twice about their decision. this shows you care, and the age level will eliminate any maturity issues with your employers. plus, with all of your different accomplishments educationalwise, how can they turn you down?

you sound well qualified, you shouldn’t worry about yourself, but the other people who want your job.
