So it is not repeated by idiots like Pres. Bush that never learned from it (Iraq is Vietnam in the sand.)
I say that and I believe it. If we don’t record the past for future generations to study, those in the future will make the same mistakes all over again. Such as accepting fascist regimes as legitimate governments(1933 Hitler, today Hamas; both democratically elected.) Getting into the middle of a civil war (1960’s Vietnam, today Iraq) and being to stubborn to get out and let them settle it themselves.

The reasoning behind that is so we learn from history the good and the bad, and try not to repeat the bad. (Although, I don’t think it is working very well.)

because it got us to where we are now. it is all a sequence. it is easier to understand something if it is written down. where we are going is only because of where we have been.
