Why do locations leave so many lights on over night?
I have always wondered why restaurants for example always leave their lights on all night. And not just one light, it seems like they leave all of them on. Honest answers only please!

easy to see inside, so it draws a persons attention, and when people pay attention thats good for business. also, cleaning crews and porters are often there well after hours, and they need light.
BUT, more effectively, shoplifters or vandalizers would be easily seen and identified by passersby because of the lights.

I’ve always been told that they do that for security purposes. That way if anyone were to break in it would be obvious where there are. Also, it’s a form of advertisement so that even if its night time you know the place is there.

Crime. Signs are left on for advertising. Sometimes there a night person who cleans the place too.
It’s funny how much money each of us spends on preventing crime. I often wonder whether we are the ones behind bars.
