Why are so many kids spiraling downwards with school grades?

Everytime I go to school, there’s some kid burying his or her head in a progress report labeled F’s and D’s all down the page. Or someone goes around all laughin, be all like,”HAHAHA. HEY YALL I GOTS AN F.” Or someone else get an F on his/her paper. I ask, “Aren’t you supposed to be p*ssed?” And they say, “Pshh, n**** please. F? F stands for fantastic. Dontcha know?”

I don’t even have to try hard to get my straight A’s. I’m no study freak. I listen to the same music as they do. And I’ve got to admit, studying never comes before pleasure in my book. But still they all walking around heads up with I’M A DUMBA** MOFO all written across they heads.

Even some of my friends have C’s and D’s. And that sucks. Seriously, don’t they care? And what’s happening to them?

I used to think this too when I was in high school and got easy As. I thought I wasn’t trying, but actually I was. I mostly listened in class, and I did my assignments. This is more than many students will do.

Now that I’m teaching, I realize that it doesn’t come so easily for everybody. People have different abilities, and do better in some subjects than in others. English seems to be very difficult for many people. For some, a C reflects a good effort on their part.

In order to fail my class, you have to actually try to fail. If you did all of the assignments, but failed all of the tests, you would at least pass. So the people with Fs actually did very little work. I actually had a student with a 26% for the semester. He did almost no work in the classroom.

I don’t know why they don’t care. I think for some of them education isn’t a part of their long term goals. They don’t want to go to college, and will probably take some kind of a laboring job.

Well that is a very simple question, because well there could be different reasons one could be that they could be getting bullied, and so they are very nervous, and not doing the best that they could be doing, or they could be eager to get their work done fast, upset about something at home, or they could be simply not feel like their work is important, and they say and feel like they don’t care what type of grade they make so to prevent that from happening you shouldd check planner ask questions, and simply turn your assignments in on time, and at least try hard at your work instead on rushing, and if you are a parent, and they still are not doing their work have a time right when they get home from school you should have a time for homework for an hour and a half, and if they do not have home work they shoul spend that hour in a half reading, studying, or just practicing some work. If you don’t want to do that have a conference with the teacher, and figure out a plan, take away really really wanted privileges they will soon figure their grades out.

In the school my kids go to if a kid gets c’s or better for the semester and don’t get into trouble they don’t have to take finals and get off 3 days earlier for Christmas and summer breaks. I can only speak for my kids but they tell me it would be embarrassing if they had to go to school when all their friends are not there.

In our house if a grade falls below a B there is no computer/game time until the grades are up again it could take a week it could take a month. That helps us here as well because chat with the buds is a necessity ya know 😉

I think a kid has to have consequences for the grades they make, good or bad, no consequences why bother?

Well, I can’t exactly blame it on technology, seeing as I too get straight A’s but am still a tech-freak. I’m on the computor non-stop, seriously. I think it’s our lack of responsibility, and the fact that we’re spoiled rotten.
