“Who you are, i have been; who you’ll be, i am.” From a mirror in a bar i once was in–what’s it mean?

It was to let you know you need to start waking up and smelling the coffee instead of tasting the beer and going to bed.

I’m not sure what it is about, but it creeps me out a bit.

If it’s being in a bar is important, it sounds like a message from the dearly departed town drunk.

Otherwise, it just feels heavy, ponderous, inescapable. .

I’d like to say that it speaks of human potential or connection, but I just don’t feel it.

Of course, it’s almost 2 a.m….

It is usually said by a mother or father to their offspring. Or, in general, from an older person to a younger one. It was just recently used in the new Stephen King movie “1408”. It just has to with the circle of life and that to be old and decrepit is our shared fate.

Someone older saying that he/she has already been in your shoes (if you’re young), and that if you want to know your future, look at him/her now. (This doesn’t imply decrepitude, as someone else implied, but a level of experience.)
