William Pitt the Younger (28 May 1759 – 23 January 1806) was a British politician of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. He served as Prime Minister from 1783 to 1801, and again from 1804 until his death. He is known as “William Pitt the Younger” to distinguish him from his father, William Pitt the Elder, who also served as Prime Minister of Great Britain.

British PM Pitt faced repeated crises in India and Ireland. He lead the diplomatic offensive against revolutionary France and Napoleon.

He died in office, primarily as a result of overwork, desperately aware of England’s perilous situation following Napoleon’s victory at Austerlitz.

Pitt’s last words were recorded as “Oh, my country, how I love my country,” and “I think I could eat one of Bellamy’s veal pies.” Bellamy was, I believe, a House of Commons courier.

I read this speech some time ago and applauded Mr Howard then and still am. Brown hasn’t got the guts to say anything like that he’s too busy pandering to these immigrants as they are the only votes that Labour will get. It’s time that the pc brigade removed their rose tinted spectacles before we lose our identity completely.
