Both would be good choices but I know a lot of friends who have went to both and most have been more successful at Cal ARTS. But I would look around at more colleges just to have lots of options. 🙂 Good Luck!!! I know that choosing the right college is super tough.

i really agree with the previous poster who mentioned to attend a community college. I wish I had done that because everyones first two years of college are spent on more or less the same stuff. Animation may be specialized enough where there is a special school that does just that. I doubt UCLA has an individual animation major. you need to check with schools and counselors and find something that will meet your needs:

do you like the campus?

the location?

the students?

the “culture” of that school?

all these are important to consider.

Go to community college 2 years and get all your basics out of the way and then transfer. you will still get the “name brand” degree, but once you transfer and have all your basics done, you can take only the good animation classes with the professionals and don’t have to worry about paying top dollar to take art history 101 that you could have taken for cheap at a community college.
