“When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.”?
I heard this quote many years ago, but I can’t remember who said it. I’m thinking maybe S.Hunter Thompson. Anyway, this saying seems very relevant to midlife career changes.

I believe you’re correct, and I think it originally appeared in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. At any rate, he used it as a chapter heading in Kingdom of Fear.

I’m not certain it was Hunter S. Thompson in reality, but I do think Bill Murray’s portrayal of him in “Where the Buffalo Roam” did include this line, or something close to it.
