when is it best?

An open ended question is best used when you want broad information. For example: Can you tell me about some foods you like? A closed ended question is best for specific information. Ex. Do you like asparagus?

There are Two Types of Questions:

One With the Interrogative Pronoun such as Who, What, Why, Where, How,…

The Second one is called, ‘Yes or No Type Questions Or Inversion Questions.

Eg: Are You tired?

One can answer in one word, ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.

When you want an explanation or long details, use the ‘Wh’ Type Questions (open-ended)

If you need just a short reply or mere Confirmation, use the open-ended Question or ‘Inversion Type Questions.

closed ended questions are used to gather specific information, by definition have 1 word answers such as “yes” or “no,” or your age. they dont engage the listener in further conversation.

so, when is it best to use one or the other… depends on whether you want a short & sweet answer or an explanation.

When you are at the bar and you ask, “Who want’s another? I’m paying.” Make sure you use just your friends names if you know what I mean.
