America’s first experience of fireworks was back when it’s first settlers brought fireworks with them. This was some time after 1620. These settlers were from England and were known as the Plymouth Colony, located in Virginia. There is no record of a specific date when fireworks were first used.

Fireworks in America.
Fireworks and black powder were used to celebrate important events long before the American Revolutionary War. The very first celebration of Independence Day was in 1777, six years before Americans knew whether the new nation would survive the war; fireworks were a part of those festivities. In 1789, George Washington’s inauguration was also accompanied by a fireworks display.

At Fort McHenry in Baltimore in the War of 1812 with the British, the Star Spangled Banner song was composed by Francis Scott Key, who wrote of the bombs bursting in air when the British were attacking Ft. McHenry with cannons and the Americans were fighting back .
That song is probably the reason for the tradition of fireworks.
