What would be more advantageous – to receive a Master of Arts in Economics, or an MBA?
As an undergraudate, I received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. I am currently en route to becoming a Certified Public Accountant. I wish to begin my graduate studies as soon as possible, but do not know whether I should specialize in Economics or simply pursue the MBA. Is there an advantage to obtaining one degree over the other? Help!

If you’re planning to go on to doctoral study, you might want to consider the MA. Otherwise, as a terminal degree, the MBA would probably serve you better. Many programs will let you choose a particular track (i.e. Finance) to specialize in.

I guess it rather depends on what you want to do after you graduate. I have an MBA from Oxford University in the UK, and it enabled me to begin my own company and develop it within a structured framework, and before that to be the CFO of a large salmon farming company.
My friends who are economists usually dedicate to research and forecasting in companies, banks or NGO’s, and less to management and entrepreneurship. That doesn’t prevent them from engaging in management or entrepreneurship, just take it as a statistical commentary.
I think there is no one better than the other, they just focus on different issues.
