“The Montauk Project was purportedly a series of secret United States government projects conducted at Camp Hero or Montauk Air Force Station on Montauk, Long Island for the purpose of developing a powerful psychological war weapon. It is considered by most to be a hoax. No evidence confirming the experiment actually occurring has ever surfaced nor has evidence of any underground facility been found.”

The Montauk Project sprouted from the failed Philadelphia Experiment from 1943. The Montauk Project took place in Montauk, NY, at the eastern point of Long Island, at an Air Force radar base called Camp Hero, that had previously closed because the technology was obsolete. The project involved workers kidnapping local children and doing experiments in telekinesis, time travel, wormholes, etc. Eventually, the projects came to a point where the subjects were creating matter from thought. One of the subjects supposedly envisioned a monster that went on a rampage through the lab, resulting in the project being shut down for good, although some people claim that it could still be taking place in a secret facilities underneath the base, which is now part of a state park. The event with the monster was the main inspiration for the TV series, “Stranger Things” (which I highly recommend if you are interested in the Montauk Project). After the project was shut down in the early 1980s, Preston Nichols, a former worker on the project, wrote a series of books in which he revealed the experiments that took place at Camp Hero. Also, many people spoke out, claiming to be the kidnapped children. Although it is possible that they could be looking for attention, the stories they told seem pretty believable.
