you should get an idea of what interests you in life. it’s okay to not have a major in mind. college is designed so that you can decide what you want to major in and many colleges want you to choose a major in your junior year, so you can stay undecided until then.

I don’t have experience with those majors, but I do have experience with international business. You don’t have to pick a major right away in college, and even if you do, it’s pretty easy to change it within the first couple of years without wasting any time or effort. I started out as a pre-medicine Biology-Chemistry major, and changed to Philosophy with a Spanish minor after my first year, and still easily finished within 3.5 years, a semester early. I wound up in international business as a career, so your major does not always direct you toward a specific career. International business sounds like an excellent major. If you are interested in travel, it would certainly give you a nice foundation for a rewarding career. You might want to focus your electives on foreign languages that would put you in the regions you are interested in.

When you finish college, I highly recommend going overseas to teach English in a foreign country. My first job out of college (started during that semester I skipped) was as an English teacher in Japan. It was such a great experience, and could have been the launching point to a lot more opportunities if I wanted it to be. It’s really easy to get a job like this right out of college with no experience, and there are English-teaching jobs in just about every non-English speaking country you can imagine. Most jobs you get offered right after college aren’t too glamorous, but going overseas to teach, even if you just do it for a little bit, can be fun, eye-opening, and can look really nice on a resume, especially if you want to work internationally for the long term. It’s okay to take small steps toward your career. You don’t need to get your dream job the day after graduation, so don’t worry too much about needing to be on the perfect path. Good luck!

You will change your Mind many times between now and the start of college and while attending college you don’t have to establish a major until your junior year. So you can experiment with the classes of the major that you want while getting your liberal studies out of the way. Best bet is not to declare a major until after your freshman year. I started out as a Environmental Science Major then a Political Science, and Finally figured out I was best Suited with Criminal Justice Major. My freshman year I took classes in the Env field along with the Political science field and figured out I did not want to do that in life. Still got credit for the classes but was still able to switch my major without problems!
