There are many issues in environmental education and the subject matter changes so rapidly that it would be best to present an open discussion format with hands-on projects for high school students. Portfolios could be developed to present student work and an environmental education propgram could be integrated into language arts, government, or any other social science.

One recommendation is to research best practices that exist for environmental education and instruction. Starting with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and clicking the top bar on the home page for education topics you’ll find information about environmental education.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also has decent teacher resources. I used their website in my government class when we discussed the history of environmental protection and mining in Colorado. Also, it was useful when developing hands-on learning for all levels of learners in my classroom. Basically, I allowed the students to develop their own interests during the introductory phase of my course and offered guidance on topics that were relevant to the course. We kept portfolios of work and students were required to complete both a visual presentation and a written paper.

The field is changing so fast, rather than a textbook I would be inclined to put together a reader using articles from popular science magazines. To grab their interest, you need to get into the field as much as possible, and invite speakers who work in the field. Of course politics should be included, but you have to be careful. You can’t take an advocacy position, but you also don’t want to make the common mistake of searching desperately for a contrary position when scientific consensus is pretty strong. Including cutting edge discoveries and techniques will help keep them interested. To measure the program’s success, you might have students write an essay at the end of the course discussing what they’ve learned, how it will make a difference in their lives, and whether they would recommend the course to friends. Over time, increased demand is the surest sign of success.

Kodai college is an astounding college, placed in the attractive Nilgiri Hills of South India. I taught there some years in the past. It has modernized and maintained a extreme tutorial prevalent. the single element to be careful approximately is that whilst Kodai college calls itself an ‘international’ college, which it somewhat is in a vogue, inspite of the indisputable fact that those days most of the pupils are prosperous Indians, in certainty it remains an exceptionally Christian college with very conservative values. If this is one in each and every of those area you’re searching for you will sense at domicile there, if not you will sense out of place. in my opinion Kodai college ignored its threat while it went by using a substantial transition 30 years in the past. it ought to are starting to be an all-embracing, somewhat international college. rather it keeps a inflexible, small-minded identity, a Christian college with a many times Hindu and Moslem pupil physique.

For the love of god please include free thought and the willingness to debate consensus. Having environment priorities being handed to you because it is in the interest of big money to push certain ones (global warming) and suppress others (bioengineering) is both disturbing and dangerous.
