Most good schools will want a minimum of about 1800, but the better UC’s, like Berkeley and LA will require over a 2000. Take a look at the average SAT score at the UC you are interested in – that should give you some idea. If you are aiming for Cal and LA, though, I suggest aiming for a 2100 and over 650/700 in the SAT II Subject tests, because those are incredibly competative schools.
