… and is “Vagabond” or any of the words (you) suggested, politically correct to use?

A friend of mine’s brother fit your description and he preferred to refer to himself as a wanderer. Sometimes he’d use drifter, roamer, rover or loner; I guess it just depended on when you asked. I know he got pretty upset when people were like, “oh, so you’re a bum/hobo?”, because he had home and a good livelihood–in fact, he was QUITE well-off– but he liked the freedom of being able to travel wherever and whenever he wanted, with no pressing commitments. People that didn’t know him always assumed he couldn’t hold a job, or was dirt broke and homeless, when their assumptions couldn’t have been any further from the truth.

hobo, tramp, bum.I think these people can legally only be called Homeless People in the politically correct alternate universe.
