yup, the poles. This is due to the earths axis being tilted. In Summer (June- august)in the north pole has 24 hours daylight and the south pole has 24 hours darkness, in winter (october-feb) the north pole has 24 hours darkness and the south pole 24 hours daylight.

the arctic circle has a period of darkness where if you stand in the same place you can literaly watch the sun come about an inch above the horizon then all day watch it circle around the mountian range after 24 hours then it rises into the next day.
