What kind of career can I pick up if I major in East Asian Studies?

I’m curious in what I can possibly be after I graduate if I decide to major in this department. Topics relating to East Asia have always caught my interest and in learning, I’ve always done well whenever we’ve touched upon this, however, I don’t want to make a mistake and not have a career to look forward to if I decide to major in this.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!♥

Well…you can pick any career you want or would be qualified for.

Just because you major in East Asian something or other doesn’t mean you’ll have a job related to that at all.

Do what you love…the rest will come.

It would be better for you to major in something else and minor in East Asian Studies if you’re that interested in it. My nephew was a philosophy major at a Top Ten college and guess what he’s doing now? He’s managing a Subway restaurant. What a waste of a college education! We tried to tell him there are no jobs for philosophy majors … except teaching other people philosophy, but he wouldn’t listen. Now he’s finding out the hard way.

OTOH, my best friend’s daughter has had a passion for horses and riding since she was small. She’s competed in many shows and won ribbons and awards. She wanted to go to a very specialized school where she could major in equestrian studies, but fortunately my friend was able to talk her out of it. She advised her instead to major in something that will allow her to make enough money to indulge her passion. She is now studying to be an orthodontist.

Sounds like anthropology to me. I loved the course, but ended up majoring in something else. You should also look for programs such as study abroad or field trips that will augment your college education.
