The term you are thinking of is philanthropist. This site will explain more. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philanthropist

Some philanthropists of note: John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, Bill Gates

A few would qualify. Philanthropist, Seroptimist, Benefactor.

PHILANTHROPIST – YEP – DO I HEAR AN ECHO ??

I have to add to the Y!A curiosity I have about members who have an inordinately high % of ‘best answers’ – Not only that, the members who have unimaginable points totals.

How does one do that, except by ‘strapping’ oneself to an automatic toilet next to the fridge, 24 hrs a day ??

You get my ‘point’, do you not ??

Thanks for the ‘space’ ‘kenny…..’.

Best – Mark B.

Or, as the Wizard of Oz said it, “A phila…phila..philanth…a GOOD DEED DOER!”

Benefactor is also acceptable, by the way. Your spelling was slightly off though.
