There is a pretty good synopsis on http://www.awerty.com/pride2.html

however, be careful of the pop up ads. Also the recent movie with Keira Knightley was pretty true to the book. Basically it is the story of a man with 5 daughters. Because of how his land was titled he could not pass it on to his daughters so the mother was very concerned with marrying the daughters off so that they will be taken care of. Elizabeth Bennet is the main character. She is very smart but is initially limited by her own pride and prejudices, as are many other people in the story. She eventually learns that sometimes people and situations are not what they first appear to be. At first she hates Mr. Darcy, but eventually finds him to be a great, kind man. He, in turn, also has his prejudices against her but they both fall in love by the end. It is quite romantic and offers insight into how people relate to each other in a socially stratified society. And it does this in an optimistic balanced way with a happy ending.
