To be on track for going to medical school the fall after you graduate from college you need to take the Introduction to Biology class + lab and the General Chemistry class + lab that your university offers. These are by no means “easy” courses at most schools, and will require a lot of work and study outside of the classroom. If you haven’t passed out of Math and Writing yet (through AP classes or entrance exams), you need to think about when you will take these courses as well. A lot of medical schools require a year of Calculus and a semester or so of Writing. Personally, I don’t think writing is that difficult, so you might want to take this your freshman year. However, if your a math wiz or have taken a lot of Calc in highschool, that could also be a safe bet.

If you are truly worried about your freshman year, you might elect to only take Biology + lab or only take Chemistry + lab. The reason I would not recommend this is because it puts you behind on applying to medical school. To apply, you need to have finished up all of your pre-med requirements including the classes I listed above plus Organic Chemistry and Physics. Many studenst take Bio and Chem their first year because nobody wants to double up with Orgo and Physics; those classes are just way too challenging. The alternative is to go the four year route of completing your pre-med requirements. The upside to this is you only have to take one major pre-med/science course per year. The downside is you have to wait a year after college to apply to most medical schools. This; however, isn’t as significant of a downside as you might think. In fact, the average age of a first year medical student is somewhere around 25, meaning many medical students don’t go straight in after college.

As far as classes outside your pre-med requirements, try to take out some of your easiest graduation requirements. For example, if your school requires a fine-arts credit, ask around to find an easy class in this subject. In my case, my university offered a theatre course that was easy, interesting, a good break from science, and fulfilled a credit that I needed in order to graduate. Also think about taking classes in subjects you’re interested in. It’s always easier to study something you want to learn. Just make sure you’re helping yourself graduate at the same time; don’t waste time taking classes you don’t need.

That’s all I got. Good luck!

as a premed major all the major requirements arent easy really. its a crap load a sciences that can be really hard. the easier classes that youll need to take eventually are your humanities such as a language or music or any form of art. usually really easy and some can be completed online. to get into med school you have to be real strong in your sciences.

I agree with BOSS. You will have to take some hard science classes. I would rethink premed if you are looking for easy classes. Your schooling is going to be a lot of long work. If you can’t do it go for something else from the get go. You can start with your core classes such as the languages and social sciences.
