All Catholics are christian but not all Christians are Catholic.

For 1500 years, all believers in Christ we members of the Catholic church until the time of Martin Luther. Martin Luther felt the Catholic church had become corrupt in his time, so be launched a historical movement we call the Protest-ant Reform-ation. Notice the protest (against corruption and the reform of the church.) Many other reformers launched their own protest and established all the manyprotestant Christian churrches we see today.

In addition to the Catholic church, and protestant churches there are several Orthodox churches, called Eastern Orthodox (Russian, Greek, Ethiopean) churches which trace their roots back much closer to Christs time and whom Catholics regard as somewhat more legit than the many newer protestant sects

Catholics believe they are the one true church since they claim a continuous line of Authority back to Saint Peter, (“Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church”) while all the many Protestant groups were formed much more recently and seem to have no basis of authority connected to biblical times.

Nothing.

“Christian” is an umbrella term for the various denominations within the Christian Church of which “Catholics” are simply one such denomination (or sub group). So while a Christian wouldn’t necessarily be a Catholic; a Catholic would still be a Christian.

What’s the difference between the Catholic church and other Christian churches? Dogma.

Your question is much the same as asking what’s the difference between a Sunni and a Moslem; or Hassidism and Judaism.

Ok, Bob K is pretty much right on the money as well as Hanna, but may I please ask you to disregard Leland’s answer. Catholics just like ALL Christians believe in the 3 in 1. Catholics do not WORSHIP the dead. (Catholics believe that what is written in Ezek. is true also) They honor and pray for the dead so that they may ascend in heaven on the judgement day. They may pray to people who are dead, like saints, but they pray for help and guidance. BUT they do NOT WORSHIP the dead.

Anyway like others have said before, all catholics are christians, but not all christians are catholics. The differences are nitty gritty at that point, and are based on rituals, dogmas, history, etc… To find real differences you would have to look at the differences between all christian sects.

a Christian is basically any person who believes in the three in one (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) and that Jesus died to save our sins. A Catholic is a denomination of this religion… Some other denominations include Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc. One huge differenct between the Catholic denomination and other denominations is that they make up stuff. I’m NOT trying to offend anyone but certain rules in the Catholic faith are not rules that you will find anywhere in the Bible.

Catholicism worships Jesus as God, Almighty. TRUE Christianity approaches the Father “in the name of Jesus Christ”, recognizing him as God’s “only begotten” son (begotten is directly created).

Catholicism worships the dead, as do the Buddhists. TRUE Christianity realizes the dead are waiting for their possible resurrection in the common grave of mankind. (Ezekl. 18: 4; Eccl. 3: 19; Eccl. 9: 5, 10; Ps. 146: 4)

Many. The pope is the head of the catholic church. the queen is the head of the church of england that broke away under heny VIII. Most american pilgrims were also protestant. the has been only 1 catholic president: kennedy. Catholics believe in communion that the wafer becomes the body of christ, portestants see it as more symobolic.

There is no difference.

Catholics like any other religion has their own rituals and ways in the church but they believe in Jesus Christ as all other Christians do.
