The Bailey Bridge
The highest bridge in the world can be found in the Ladakh valley between the Dras and Suru rivers in the Himalayan mountains. The valley lies at an altitude of about 5 602 m (18,379 ft) above sea level on the India side of Kashmir. It is only 30 metres (98 ft) long, and was built by the Indian Army in August 1982.
The Millau Viaduct (Viaduc de Millau)
The Millau Viaduct is a cable-stayed bridge spanning the Tarn River in southern France. Standing 1,118 feet high at its loftiest point, it is indeed the tallest bridge in the world.
The Akashi Kaiyko Bridge
Southern Japan is home to the world’s longest
bridge. The Akashi Kaiyko Bridge spans the Akashi Strait, connecting Awaji Island to Kobe, an important industrial center. The bridge has a span of 5973 feet (1991 meters), making it over 25% longer than its nearest competition: the
Humber Bridge in England. Strangely, there may be longer bridges in the world, but the Guinness Book of World Records measures the longest bridges according to their record-breaking spans.
