You just need a bachelor’s degree in something you can teach, and then you just apply. Most colleges get people from it to recruit, so if you can’t find them, just ask a school of education department at a university.
They place you, so I don’t think you can always dictate where you go, you can go to Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and all kinds of other places, but you might be able to request a top three or something. You usually don’t make the actual teaching salary too, you get like 20k a year, but you get certified through doing it.
To the first poster, our district pays full teacher salary to TFA volunteers, depending on teaching experience. 🙂 They get the same benefits that we get along with other options.
Those that do not have a teaching degree can go an alternative route and teach. This program is also for those districts in a poverty area that has a teacher shortage.
