What is one thing that you couldn’t live without in your dorm room?

1) think about what you regretted bringing last year…and don’t bring them again (too many books, etc.) you can use this extra space to store other things, etc….limit it to 5-10 books at a time…and if you bring more…remove more…it’s like a trade off…and plus you’ll have enough academic books to fill up the rest of your shelves anyway..
2) i think you should bring a comfy chair…b/c being comfortable makes it easier to bear being in your room all the time when you’re studying and stuff…hahaha…
3) you need to bring plates…real plates…and just wash them…I’ve decided it’s better than paper stuff…(I’ve got the silverware handled…unless you want to eat steak and use a knife to cut it with…then you’re on your own)…bring dawn so we don’t have to share with the laundry room…b/c it not always there…:P
4) food…bring only what you know you’ll eat in 2 weeks time…b/c you want to make sure you will get to it all…and don’t settle for tv dinners unless you really would eat it at home…first week=we’re getting pizza…hahaha…with cheesy bread…it’s on me! :P…and hmmm…obviously bring the fridge…hmm…devote your overhead cubby completely to canned food…in fact…let’s devote the entire underside of one loft to food…and the other will have the tv on top of my cubby, which will hold the movies…which I hope you agree will be quite cool…b/c then we can use the space where my cubby used to be to store the crappy desk chairs they provide us with…hahhaa…
5) don’t bring too many clothes…limit the amount of tops b/c that leaves less room in your closet to store things…like that you don’t want to see in the rest of your room…and plus you didn’t wear like at least 10 tops like all last year…and I sensed you felt you didn’t need all of them at the dorm…though I could be wrong…and leave room for the Wicked t-shirt…
6) it’s so obvious I’m your roommate
7) I’ll email you if I think of more stuff…have you started packing?
I couldn’t live without my laptop. Writing and surfing the web were requirements.
OK. As for help with food, let me think. Do you have a fridge or no fridge? I used to keep all my food stacked in a milk crate. Bring a few bowls for cereal, some paper plates, and silverware, a dish scrubber and dish soap, and paper towel.
For personal-care things, like deodorant and perfume and stuff, buy one or two little spin trays (they’re round-shaped trays that spin around – they look like this: http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-2936-00-WHT-SGL-Turntable/dp/B000ARTNUG/ref=sr_1_16/002-4203494-6797618?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1185053621&sr=1-16 ). Put all your bottles on it, and you’ll have easy access to them all the time – no reaching to the back of the pile and knocking things over. Be sure you have some kind of shower caddy for shaver and shampoo, cheap $2 shower flip-flops, and a robe.
As for food, if you are freshman (I am assuming you are), at most schools, you are required to be on a meal plan and most likely will be eating on campus every day. The food generally sucks but eating/ordering out for food everyday eats through the wallet quickly. Its a harsh reality but you have to deal with it.
Food– They make microwave hamburger helper, just add water, sandwiches, chef boyarde.
