Sounds like your trying to apply for Chapter 35 Dependent and Survivors Benefits. You must fall into these criteria to be eligible for benefits. If you do not, unfortunately, you will not be eligible for benefits.

You must be the son, daughter, or spouse of:

A veteran who died or is permanently and totally disabled as the result of a service-connected disability. The disability must arise out of active service in the Armed Forces.

A veteran who died from any cause while such service-connected disability was in existence.

A service member missing in action or captured in line of duty by a hostile force.

A service member forcibly detained or interned in line of duty by a foreign government or power.

A service member who is hospitalized or receiving outpatient treatment for a service connected permanent and total disability and is likely to be discharged for that disability. This change is effective December 23, 2006.

Even with the info on here. The only way to truly find out would be to fill out the application.

A U.S. veteran is someone who has served in the U.S. military and was honorably discharged. You are a dependent of a veteran, which qualifies you for many scholarships, and in some circumstances other kinds of financial aid.

For example, if your father suffered a disability while serving in the military (which must be documented), California students are given free tuition to any public school (community colleges, CSUs and UCs).

The only way for you to become a veteran is to enlist in the military, serve and be honorably discharged.

Good luck!

A veteran is any person who has served America in any branch of the military and is currently honorably discharged from their branch of service.

A veteran is anyone who served in the military…I am not sure but it may be anyone who fought in a war. But if he is a veteran, I am not sure that that will help YOU, unless it is a special program for offspring of veterans

Do you have your DD214? This is what qualifies you as a vet.
