What is a good attention getter for a speech on getting robbed?

Hello and thank you for attending.

How many of you would like to lay money that your home isn’t being robbed right now

When one guy gave a speech in class with the opening statement, “Raise your hands if you have been stabbed before,” the whole class whent silent and everyone including the professor kept saying how much they loved the opener. I would try the same thing only with getting robbed. “Raise your hands if you have been robbed before.” You can ask a couple in the class about their experiances and go from there with your own. 😀

approach the podium and in a loud voice yell ” get down on the floor, now, now, give me all your money”. Then start your speech from there.
