What high school classes should I take if I want to be a veterinarian?

Should I take AP European History because it might look good on my transcript?

What does that have to do with animal medicine? I’d go with biology, chemistry, higher maths, etc… That’s what your degree is going to have a lot of in college… I’d also volunteer at a vet’s office or get a job there for applications. Good grades, in general though, are good, so go ahead with the AP thing if the sciences aren’t available. You will have to do well in them in college, however.

I am a sophomore in highschool working to become a veterinarian as well. If that is what your dream and heart is set on. Take as many Science classes and Math classes as you can. If you have block scheduling that is awesome cause you can double up. Last year I didn’t do much but take the classes I really had to take. But now I doubled up on science and math. I took honors Bio first semester and amnow in Bio 2 Ecology. Next year I am taking Honors Chem and Bio 2 Anatomy. Then as a senior I plan on taking AP Bio. Also, double up on math. It will help you in the long run. I suggest getting as many math classes in as possible because when you’re in college it will be really hard. do it while you have a teacher that will work it out until you learn instead of a professor who won’t. Really all you need are science and math, but I would suggest, if your school offers it, to take many AP (Advanced Placement) classes because they count as a college credit and can get you out of classes in college. PLUS are free or cost very little compared to college. Like for me, since I am majoring in Biology, if I take College Comp (English) I will not have to take an English class in college because that major only requires one. (: Hope that helped.

Anything dealing with Biology or Chemistry. Taking a Organic Science (if available) would be helpful.
