What G.P.A. is required to get into an Ivy League school?

I am interested in Yale particularly but have not always gotten a 4.0. I know it is more than grades, but do I have a chance even if my lowest has been a 3.76?

It really depends on the curriculum you’re taking. I’m going to an Ivy next year and I had an unweighted GPA of 3.865 and a weighted GPA of 6.125. Colleges want to ensure that you’re taking the most rigorous curriculum available to you in school. You can easily manage a 4.0 when all you’re taking are easy classes, but colleges don’t want that.

SAT and ACT scores also come into play, and you also have to ensure that you’re scoring pretty high to get a spot in one of these schools.

But when it comes to the top-tier schools, just about everyone in the applicant pool has a great GPA and SAT score, and for the most part, most of these kids are qualified to attend; what you need to ensure is that you’ll stand out from the crowd, and extra curricular activities will do that for you.

You always have a chance, people with a 3.2 get into Ivy leagues– but usually because of Legacy. Did any of your parents/grandparents go to Yale? Are you famous? Do you have enough money to build a wing if we need it? Are you a minority who has a 3.76 and runs a non-profit because then we may be able to get you in.

Honestly, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Your SAT and ACT scores are important as well. There are tons of other great school that are just as prestigious. Look at Wellesly and Smith- those schools have great repuations. Do a google search for famous Wellesly alumni:Kathy Bates, Hilary Clinton,Diane Sawyer, Elizabeth Shue,Ali Mc Graw, Madeline Albright! My point is to look into other schools, chances are you wont get into Yale but there are other schools out there that you may love and may fit you just well.

Depends on sat or other tests and your activities at high school such as Key Club, Hi-y or sports. Even clubs at high school help and your interview.
