What does “you’re my sweetest downfall” mean?
It’s a line from a song, I’m not sure who sang it. XD I just heard it somewhere and I am curious, what does that phrase mean? Thank you! ๐

I understand it to be that the person fell in love with someone that wasnt exactly good for them but even so they feel it was like the best mistake they made.
Like when you eat chocolate when you are on a diet and even though you know its bad for you , you still dont regret having it because it was good and you enjoyed that moment of eating it.

Here’s my interpretation: This line would come from someone who has fallen in love, i.e., this person has surrendered himself/herself wholly to love. To be truly in love is sweet, and the act of surrendering is somehow synonymous to a downfall.

Additional: And yes, MichM actually hit the bull’s-eye. Loving the “wrong” person against all odds is the sweetest downfall of them all.

Whoever/whatever the singer was speaking of brought the singer down but this failure did not feel like a failure or it felt like a good failure if you understand ๐
