Actually the song has nothing to do with organized religion. It has to do with pretending everything is fine when going to church. Being a phony really. Going to church and pretending like you never fail, never have problems, are not struggling..etc.

SOUNDS TO ME LIKE HE DOESN’T THINK VERY HIGHLY OF ORGANIZED RELIGIION, IT’S JUST A MASQUERADE.
