Stoicism is a school of Hellenistic philosophy, founded by Greek philosopher Zeno of Citium (333 BCE – 264 BCE) in Athens, and which became popular throughout Greece and the Roman Empire.

Stoicism is basically the ability to concentrate without distraction. It was a whole philosophy and way of life, that governed every aspect of their lives. The original stoics, in 300 BC, were said to have allowed a fox to gnaw their entrails without flinching, while they concentrated on the task at hand. That sounds a bit extreme, but the word stoic today doesn’t refer to the philosophical group that it did originally. Today it refers to someone who can bear pain without moaning and groaning, like when you’re on a hike and you twist your ankle, you wrap it up and keep going without complaint

The Merriam-Webster dictionary says that it is “indifference to pleasure or pain.”
To me, if someone exhibits stoicism they are able to handle a situation without it affecting them. They don’t let any feeling or emotion cloud their attitude or what they need to do in a situation.
So I hope that helped a little bit!
