what do you think are the benefits of learning to use a computer?

You may need to learn to use a computer for a job. Many schools will only allow students to hand in papers/assignments that are typed so learning to use a word processor would be important. There is also shopping online, chatting/calling friends and family through the internet (you can save on long distance here) as well it is easy to find information on a variety of topics (ex. health, people, pets) through the internet although of course you should be careful of what websites you trust for information.

I find that ‘banking’ online has many advantages. I pay bills online and save on stamps and gas. As a writer I use ‘word’ to draft up all my query and cover letters. Email is also a very handy dandy thing to learn. You can keep in touch with people a lot cheaper than on the phone.

If you like taking pictures of your children, boy/girlfriend, camping trips and all those other good things, you can make t-shirts with those pictures on them, print out prictures, send pictures to friends and relatives via email.

With the proper care and ‘being careful’ a computer can be a lot of fun as well as educational. I’m sure there are a lot more things people can come up with than just the few I mention.
