Go to American Council for Construction Education for accredited associates and bachelor programs throughout the country. This would be a good route to try if you are interested in commercial or residential construction.

If you are interested in civil construction such as roads and bridges or if you are interested in construction of industrial plants, you may want to consider a Civil Engineering or other engineering degree. Construction contractors in these fields hire more engineers than those with CM degrees.

Research as many schools as you can, apply to the best programs you feel you can get accepted by and can afford. Speak to the department heads and financial aid to identify any scholarships that may be available.

Finally, call some construction companies in the area and see what schools they hire from. Many estimators, project managers, superintendents, and owners have degrees from these schools and will be happy to speak with you. I know that many schools require proof of working for a construction company for a certain number of hours before a degree will be given. So look for a starter job while you are at it!

Good luck!

Sorry I can’t answer your question

There is nothing like breaking new ground! (Pun intended)

I’m really surprised a “young black woman” would want to pursue a career in construction management.

Good luck to you.
