What cliche items of conversation qualify as your pet peeves?
Two come to mind for me: “No pun intended” … if there was no pun intended, you wouldn’t have pointed out there was a pun to look out for; and “Could care less” … if what you really mean is that it means nothing to you, shouldn’t you say, “couldN’T care less”?
Any others out there?

when people puntuate their conversations with “like” as in
“it was soooo like amazing” etc etc etc.
It gets on my nerves, it’s like a verbal tic and it’s spreading like wildfire.
Oh and also the phrase “do you know what I mean”, repeated and repeated ad nauseum at the end of sentences.
Yes, I bloody do know what you mean!!!
(maybe these examples don’t strictly qualify as cliches, but to me they are)

When people see that I listen to screamo type music and automatically assume I’m some socially deprived, emotionally isolative, no life creeper when in reality I also listen to country and rap and live in the state of Texas so I wear cowboy boots.. Hmm? A screamo loving cowboy.. how ironic?

I HATE “No offense, but…” I am automatically offended. “With all due respect” almost always leads to a comment completely lacking respect.
Oh, thought of something else…This is a grammar pet peeve, but I’m sure you won’t mind hearing (reading) it, right? I hate the misuse of the word ‘myself’. “He came to the movie with Rodney and myself.” Ugh.

I absolutely detest the use (or should I say “misuse”?) of the pseudo-word “irregardless”!!! It absolutely makes me grit my teeth! I had a high school principal who said this on a fairly regular basis over the intercom, and it just made everybody in class roll their eyes.

I hate “is that right?” when you tell someone something they may be hearing for the first time; of course I want to say, “No, I just made it up!!!!!”….and of course the use of “like’ every word, as someone else mentioned, REALLY gripes me!! OH, and ending every sentence with an ‘up’ note; as in ” and then we went to see my friends,???” you know what I mean…awful!!

“No offense intended”, after they offend you, or before a conversation starts.

Ya know? I hate it when someone is talking ya know and every other utterance from their ya know mouth is ya know, ya know?
