Some of these are ones that I assign and others are ones that my students have enjoyed reading on their own:

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Monster by Walter Dean Myers

The Contender by Robert Lipsyte

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

The Giver by Lois Lowry

Depends on the types of book you enjoy and your reading level. Since you have a sword and shield for an avatar I am going to venture you enjoy some fantasy books. Some of my favorite fantasy books (besides Harry Potters and Lord of the Ring) include: the Wheel of Time series (very very long), Artemis Fowl books, The Black Magician Trilogy, Ender’s Game, Lloyd Alexander’s Prydian Chronicles, and for a much easier read try the Deltora Quest series. All those book encompass many different reading levels. Also try some James Patterson novels if you want some mystery books.

If those types of books interest you, or you like other kinds of books let me know (e-mail is on my profile)!! I have many many many more recommendations for all types of book genre’s, I just picked fantasy because of your avatar 😛 I just graduated high school so I really remember what 9th grade was like, and know what books are good for the current generation.
