What are those big lights called, the ones outside nightclubs that shine into the sky and move back and forth?
They sometimes use them outside restaurants or other businesses and usually only at night. I can’t for the life of me think of the name of them! I’m working on writing something and need the word. Thanks!

Spotlights , giant spotlights, searchlights, air-raid searchlights

They are called searchlights because they were used to search for planes attacking at night. Skylights are windows in the roof of a building.

For some reason, they are called “Search Lights”. Perhaps it’s because they are “searching” for customers.

I never knew they had a specific name, though.
