First, go to undergrad and get a degree. It can be in anything. law schools don’t care. However, for your sake, get it in an area where you’d also like to practice law in. If you want to be a corporate lawyer, get some kind of business degree. Don’t pick poly sci just because you hear people telling you it’s a “traditional” pre-law degree. If you pick it, pick it b/c you truly like the subject or just want an easy major to give you a high GPA. You want to go to the best undergrad you can because that makes it easier for you to get into the best law school you can.
Then, go to law school, graduate, and pass the CA Bar.
Stanford and Berkeley are the best law schools in this state. The best law school in Orange County is probably Chapman University. However, the important thing to note is prestige matters a good bit in law. Going to a prestigious law school out of the area is more important than going to a local school. Chapman, to put it bluntly, sucks. Pretty much every employer in Orange County is going to take the Stanford Law grad over the Chapman or Western law grad. You’d have to be at the very top of your class of Chapman to even have a decent shot at competing for a job with the lowest ranked Stanford law grad.
2) go to law school
3) pass the CA bar.
The best law school in your immediate area is UCLA, followed by USC. Stanford and Berkeley are your best instate schools.
