Class sizes are not always smaller. My kids had 35 in their classes.
Parents (a HUGE component) are interested in what’s going on and participate in events, back to school, plays, music programs, sports, etc. You don’t just dump your kid off at school and thank god you have 8 hours of peace and quiet.
When my kids finished 8th grade they were so far ahead of the 9th graders in public school I had to decide if they should test out of high school, suffer through to the 12th grade before they learned something new, or send them to private high school. Each one was different and had some input before we made a decision.
Public school has a monopoly on education. It gets worse every year. 12th grade students have to take a national test to graduate. The test is based on an 8th grade education, and many students FAIL.
Most public school teachers are good, but are frustrated by the union, the school board, and the school administration. They have to teach to the lowest common denominator, or the slowest child in the class. Pretty boring for the smart kids, the interested kids, the ones who want a challenge.
Public school is a waste of time, energy, effort, and mostly MONEY. Private schools can (and do) provide a better quality education, for less money, on a regular basis.
Versus public school, where you don’t have individualized attention and in some cases have to fight for a seat.
However, I’m not saying there aren’t good public school teacher( because I’ve had one), it’s just harder to get in the know with some of them.
Also, in the end it’s about makes the most money-so who cares!
