What are the chances of a change in score on an ap exam if you request a multiple choice rescore?
I recently received my AP results and one of my scores just doesn’t seem right. I’ve been debating whether or not to ask for a rescore only because one mark on my answer sheet could change my score. What should I do?

If the grade difference is 2 or more from what you expected I suggest you rescore. The 25 dollars isn’t a big deal if it means the difference between getting college credit for the course or not. If you strongly believe you did better than your score, definitely go for the rescore. However, if it is borderline (like a 4 instead of a 5) I wouldn’t expect your score to change.
By the way, last year my AP US score went from a 2 to a 5 after the rescore. I suspect I did not use a #2 pencil =P.

Generally speaking in the majority of the exams that are rescored, the overall change in score is not substancial. I used to work for ETS in the AP program so i know. Most people notice no difference in the rescore, and i beleive there is a fee to do so. If you strongly feel it was substantially misscored then go for it, but otherwise most people dont find it worth while.

Most multiple choice tests like that are graded by machine, so unless you had an answer tossed out because the machine could not read you answer (smudged, didn’t erase well enough, etc.) then I would say your chances are very slim. Do they charge you for a rescore? If they do it may not be worth it. I would not worry about it too much anyway. AP boasts that you will be able to get college credit, but not many schools actually count the class for anything.

If you earned excellent grades in a grueling class and collegeboard sent you a 2, then yes, request a rescore. However, if you think your score ended up as a 4 based on one question, I think it’s too risky.
