What are the best strategy books & such for SAT math?

I got a disgusting 650 in May, and am aiming for an 800 this fall. I’m heading into Calculus this year, so its not like I’m bad at math, I just need help with the harder questions on the SAT. I already have Barron’s SAT 2400 by the way.

Any recommendations would be great, thanks!

Make it certain–more certain than that there are 15 handshakes in a party with 6 people–make it absolutely certain that time is not an issue.

Make sure that you can burn through the easy questions (like, 1-15 in a 20 question section). Make it so that you scoff at the easiness. That way, you’ll have time to think through the last five questions and get them right—and earn that 800.

(At your level, the best way is to learn question forms and all the variations CB can spit at you.)

Work at it practice, practice and more practice.

When doing the SATs maths, keep calm (easier said than done I know). Read the questions before you start and read them as you are doing them. First do the easy questions, and then do the questions you know and then do the hard questions. If you can leave a gap after you answer so there is room for you to write more if you have the time at the end to go back and some more workings out. Do not panic, I did this once in a Book-Keeping exam I am sure I would have got a credit if I had not panicked. I could not get my balance sheet to balance and instead of going on to the next question I tried and tried to find what I had done wrong. If I had just gone on and finished the exam and then gone back with a fresh mind I may have found out what I had done wrong, but I panicked and nearly walked out of the exam room. If I had have walked out I would have failed but I stayed and I passed, because I had showed that I knew what I was doing. But, nothing beats hard work and practice.

I hope this helps, it is how I have done my exams, but then I have not done SATS maths or otherwise. Good Luck.

I was surprised that I didn’t get an 800 too. What I think you should do is take a few practice exams and then try to determine why you missed the problems. I had some stupid errors where I misread problems. Perhaps you weren’t taught the math or the questions are just hard to think through. If you weren’t taught the math, reading a few text books on that particular subject will help. If the questions are just hard to think through. I would read through SAT practice tests and locate those questions that require some thought. Do as many of these as possible.

each and all of the precious time may well be of benefit to you on condition which you employ it properly! secure training is worthwhile; save at it for 2 hours at a stretch–each consultation of Verbal and Maths. sign in for under the SAT, around March 2011. except the nursing college asks to your scores in a particular subject (like Biology or Chemistry), why might you % to take the area attempt? not required. there are a number of books—BARRON’s , and The Princeton overview books are the ultimate. the 2d coaches you in the two Math and Verbal aspects. sluggish and secure training till at last March. then you definately might desire to start timing you assessments, to have the means to assemble velocity; yet aim for accuracy first.

Princeton Review’s math section is very strong. Tutorfox.com’s sat guide is also a very good guide for the math section. Try both.
