What are the advantages/disadvantages of taking more rigorous courses in college?
For example, I can take now Calculus I, II, III, or linear algebra. I only need to satisfy 1 semester of math that can be satisfied by any of these courses. I’m thinking of taking Calc I for the easier ‘A’ but please let me know if taking a higher level course would somehow help. Thank you!

If you plan to go to grad school for math (or for anything in the sciences, or to med school or to pharmacy school), then you should certainly take the most challenging math courses possible. Graduate admissions committees will look specifically for this. If you do not plan math or science as a career, then take an easier math course. But if you plan graduate study in another area, you should definitely take the most challenging courses in that area.
As you look at the course catalogue, you will notice that many upper-level courses have prerequisites. If you think you will want to take those upper-level courses in future years, make sure you take the prerequisite courses early.
Best wishes to you!
