What are some ways to get straight A’s in school?

Studying and what else? I’m trying to make the Dean’s list. I’ve been getting C’s, but I think it’s because of hardly no sleep, because I work a night shift job and I work from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., and it’s tough at times. How can I get these grades up and work on getting straight A’s?

u want to know the secret? the answer is in ur name. Ask God to give u strenght everyday. Pray with good honest intentions and give it ur best. God will reward ur hardwork, take care of ur needs that the money from ur midnight job is taking care of and give u wisdom and strenght to maintain straight A’s. Nothing is impossible for God. Just trust him and have faith in Him claim ur promises through His son Jesus Christ. Your name is “God’s strenght” is all u need my friend. thats how it goes for me. And God is very faithful, so u have nothing to worry about.

God bless you.

I feel your pain. My senior semester in undergrad school was an absolute nightmare. I got 3 hours of sleep a day between work, research, class, and studying, and yet finally managed to pull off a 4.0 that semester. It’s hard, but yes you can do it. My suggestions are not the healthiest way to go about succeeding, but if you can’t quit/reduce your work schedule, here are my suggestions:

1) B-vitamin rich fluids and music while studying. Sleep deprived studying is a nightmare, and you have to force yourself to get more excited about what you’re doing. Some people can’t handle music while studying, and if that’s true then find a library or other quiet place where you can really focus on what you’re doing. For me, however, music was the only thing that kept me stimulated enough to keep going.

2) Don’t give up. When you’re exhausted, you’ll eventually hit a study wall, feel like you’re not learning anything, and say ‘screw it, I’m going to fail, might as well get some sleep.’ Don’t do it. Usually, I’ve found that within half an hour to an hour of hitting the wall, I start learning things much more quickly.

3) Learning patterns. Everyone has a different learning style. You might not be learning in the way that’s best for you. I’m a kinetic learner. I have to write out my study notes over and over and solve problems to learn. Some people are verbal learners. Some people visual. Try out different methods and see which one helps you the best.

4) Piece-meal studying. Don’t cram your study sessions into one night. It can seem impossible to study days, even weeks ahead when ever life is chaotic, but that’s one of the best ways to build up your knowledge so you’re doing more than regurgitating for a test.

Good luck with everything.

Study. Study. Study.

Okay, here. What you need to learn about here is time management. Take out a piece of paper. Going one way, make lines on the paper seven one way (Sunday through Saturday) and twenty-four the other way (12 midnight to 12 midnight). See where your time actually goes. Block out your time showing things like what hours you are at work and what hours you are in classes. Then, from what remains, pick which 5 to 8 hours a day you’d like to get a bit of sleep. How many hours do you have left? Can you pencil in your studying time in between classes? Which works best for you? Take all late afternoon & evening classes, go to work, then cop a few zzz’s in the morning? Or work the night job, take all morning classes, then crash out in the afternoon?

Yea. No sleep might be a problem. Doctors recommend at least 8 hours of sleep a night. I think it’s still possible to function and everything on about 6. But, it’s really impossible to be a straight A-student and also working 9 hour nights.
