What analysis or basic tests can I do on decomposed fruit?(imagination preferred)?
I have three zip-lock bags of decomposing fruit, all at different stages. I have an assignment, and I quote “The aim of this project is to show that you can design and conduct an investigation using the procedures accepted by scientists. The project requires to carry out a controlled investigation to determine how one thing will affect another.”
Now my first idea, which I won’t go into didn’t work at all. But it left be with three bags of puréed fruit at different stages of decomposition. I could put them in the sun and do an investigation like “What dries up(through evaporation) faster, putrefied fruit or fresh fruit,” for example, or something like that… but that would be lame… and would most likely just attract **** loads of ants. Any ideas?

Pick out just 30 ants from a hill, and put them into 3 little paper cups with Saran Wrap on them. Then, one by one, expose the fruit to the 10 ants from a bag, for a limited time period. See which fruit sample the ants: crawl to most quickly, stay at the longest, & eat the most. Compare the fruits as to the sugar content by looking in books & compare that with your experimental findings.
Or, squeeze the water out of each fruit sample & discuss how much liquid is in each bag at each stage of decomposition & why.
