It is the best school ever! I may be a little biased (class of 2001), but I could not imagine attending anywhere else for undergraduate school. If you don’t mind the occasional large class- I had classes with as many as 500 students and others with as few as 10 students, then you’ll be fine. It really depends on what you’re majoring in as to what you will experience. Most freshman classes will be large, and the classes will shrink as you get further into your academic career. The professors are top notch with many well known scholars– Like History? James I. Robertston, Jr. and William C. Davis, possibly the two highest renowned Civil War historians teach there. Like Poetry? Nikki Giovanni the world renowned poet is there. The list goes on and on. The business department, architecture department, and engineering departments are all top notch programs consistently in the top 10 in respected educational polls. Ultimately attend the school that is right for you. You’ll know if it’s right the moment you set foot on campus. I visited several schools, and the only one that felt like home the moment I arrived was VT. GO HOKIES.

Yes it is good for engineering and has tremendous school spirit. In the long run it will not matter what school you go to because about 95% of colleges in this country give you about the same education. Chose the school which is best for you and the one you like the most.
