Try to solve, i will post the correct answer soon:?

Each of 3 players has written a list of 100 words. The lists are compared and all the words that appear in at least 2 lists are crossed out.

Is it possible that 4 words remain in the first list, 75 in the second and 80 in the 3rd?

no. even if all the removed words from the last two lists, now allegedly with 75 and 80 words left, had been found on the first list, that is only a total of 45 words crossed out. That would leave 55 words left on the first list, which is a lot more than 4.

or, seen another way, since the words were only removed if they were found on at least two lists, there is no way that 96 words we crossed off the first list allowing only 4 to remain , because there aren’t even 96 words missing from the other two lists combined. this means that there were not 96 shared words from list one, there were at most 45.

No, because there would need to be 96 words crossed off the other two lists if only 4 are left on the other. Since only 25 and 20 were crossed off from the other two lists, that means that only 45 words were on more than one list – not 96.
