however, i did it with the help of a calculator:

17^1 = 17

17^2 = 289

17^3 = 4913

17^4 = 83521

17^5 = 1419857

17^6 = 24137569

and so on… i think i tried until 17^7 or 17^8 before i was convinced that there was this certain cycle of 4 in the powers of 17. the last digits of the first 4 powers of 17 were were 7, 9, 3, 1: from the 5th power onwards, it only repeated this cycle. thus i divided 2007 by 4 = 501 and 3/4, then considered the 3rd term in the cycle of 4, which was 3. add to that 5, and voila! 8.

First, 17^2007 is…well the answer is 2,470 digits long and too long to display here, but the last digit is 3.

Add 5 to that and the answer to your question is…8.

For anyone who doubts this answer, all you need is a calculator that that can do arbitrary precision arithmetic (you can find them online) in order to PRECISELY calculate numbers that large.

This sounds more like a math test then an IQ test.

To those who figured out that the answer is 8, kudos……but in my opinion you wasted your time to come up with an answer that is no more accurate than mine.
