Yahoo! Answers subtracts 5 points each time you ask a question. You receive 2 points for answering a question, and 10 points for giving a best answer to a question. The best answer can be determined by a vote or the asker may choose who he or she thinks gave the best answer. If the question becomes eligible for voting, you may vote for your own answer or any other answer you believe is best. You receive 1 point for voting. You also may earn points by getting thumbs ups on your answers from other users, and stars for asking a good question. A point will be subtracted for each thumbs down you receive.

Check out the community guidelines for other information regarding rules of use, point systems, etc…. I promise that Yahoo! Answers is not trying to cheat you. There would be no reason for doing so as the only reward for points is the pride of raking in the points. 🙂

I think it has to do with how many questions per week you answer. I put my cursor over your picture just now and it said you had 78 points this week , so at 2 points per question without any 10 point best answers, that means you have only answered 39 questions within the last 7 days. If you got any best answers, then you answered fewere questions but got more points for what you did answer . I average about 4 hours a night answering questions that I have knowledge about, and sometimes more than that. Just depends on your dedication. I just checked my score (I guess you could call it), and it said I have had 371 answers this week.

Please vote. I need the points also.

The people on the answers site are really generous.

When you answer their questions, ask them to vote for you.

You get points for answering, and even more points if they vote for you as best answer.

Questions cost you 5 points. That’s alot.

I have had problems also with this “Point subtraction” that Yahoo has been doing. I think it’s a glitch in the system, but again, ASK for people to VOTE for you. They really will help you, and your points will SOAR!!! Good Luck! Go VOTE!!!

Thanks!!
